Making the Switch

Scrapbooking to Project Life

How I Started Scrapbooking:
With a smile that could light up a room, Brandy could talk you into doing anything. In high school she was always taking pictures. She loved to scrapbook and it wasn't long before she was showing it all to me. I picked it up here and there, but I primarily scrapbooked with her. As the years went by and I had more motivation, I started to scrapbook more and more.

How It All Ended:
One day I got the call that there had been an accident earlier in the morning. She was alive, but they were calling in the family to make the final decisions. I was devastated. All I could do was cry and look up at the wedding invitation pinned to my wall that I had received in the previous weeks. I had lost contact with her and I hadn't seen her near as much as I should have. I stopped scrapbooking then. It was something I did with her. I couldn't bare continuing without her. Since then, I have only completed one page. This page was at the request of her Aunt Donna. She still played secret Santa for her, and that year she gifted me a ton of scrapbooking supplies with the only request being that I make her a page. It took weeks and a ton of tears, but I finished it.

What Is Changing:
For me, scrapbooking 12x12 pages was for large events. I have come to realize that I have a lot of smaller moments I want to capture. I have my motivations and I have my reasons for wanting to capture memories again; however, scrapbooking is just too painful. With next month being five years, you would think I could move past it, but those are some of the best memories I have with her.

Starting Something New:
I have been looking into Project Life. What is Project Life you are wondering? Project Life was originally started as taking one photo a day for a year and journaling about each picture. As time went on it has progressed and flourished. There is now a whole line of products for PL from albums, page protectors, and journaling cards. Each card comes with a little design already on them making it easier and simpler to put together memories, yet it still leaves room for embellishments if you find you want them. With a busier schedule, handling 4x6 and 3x4 cards seems more manageable, especially for smaller memories. I am wanting to make the transition into PL. Most of my current supplies will still be usable, even my boxes of paper. Below I am going to include a list of items I am looking at for starting my PL journey.
