Keeping Up With My Prayers and How I Do It

Faith can be defined as giving complete control and trust to something or someone else. As a Christian, I put that definition to the test by trusting blindly. Many struggle with the idea of placing their hopes, dreams, and struggles into the hands of a God in which they cannot see. For many years my faith was tested in the form of prayer. More specifically, I struggled to remember to pray each day. I would often forget to set aside time to talk with Jesus. Today, I want to share with you how technology has helped me with my faith and my prayers.

Switching back to an iPhone meant starting over for me. I was determined to use it the best way I could, productively. I set out in search for a prayer app that would help to keep track of all the things I need to pray about that would also remind me when I needed to pray. I cannot count the apps I downloaded and deleted until I found the perfect one for me.

Echo Prayer Manager

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Finding Echo was my saving grace. The app itself is simple and easy to navigate. What I like about the app is that I can access the app, set a timer, and it cycles through what I need to pray about during that set time.

The first screen you encounter provides the navigation list at the bottom, and two options: pray now and add a prayer. The navigation list includes the following: your prayers, reminders, answered, and settings. I love that I can set reminders for notifications throughout the day to remind me to pray. There is a wonderful feeling of satisfaction and joy to mark a prayer as answered and be able to reflect on all the prayers God has answered for you.

I love that I can add a new prayer whenever I like. I simply title the prayer and add a description of that prayer. Here is where I put details about the prayer and what I specifically want to talk to God about. I will share with you an example of one of my prayers:

Our Love 

Prayers that our relationship remain centered on God. May our foundation stay strong and that our relationship contnues to grow. May our bond only strengthen over time. May the distance between us help us instead of hinder us. May his will be done in out relationship and future marriage.

This app has brought me closer to God by building an open communication within our relationship that I have not had before. It has helped to show me that my prayers are heard and that they are answered. It has helped me to be able to bring my worries, my doubts, and my praise to Him and lay them at His feet. My prayer has become the backbone of my relationship with God. He has blessed me and my family in so many ways.
